Job Vacancy: Part Time Maintenance Supervisor
Summary: The Parsippany Library is seeking a Part Time Maintenance Supervisor to perform and oversee the maintenance tasks and projects in the Main Library and the two Branches.
The Part Time Maintenance Supervisor oversees the work of the custodial staff and participates in building repair and maintenance; coordinates annual scheduled maintenance, oversees work completed by outside contractors, recommends repairs and new procedures to maintain the building, coordinates work schedule for custodial staff, and fills in during custodial staff absences.

Compensation: $20 - 22/hour and includes paid sick, vacation, and holidays, and enrollment in the Defined Contribution Retirement Program (DCRP) if eligible.

Maintenance Supervisor Job Description
Main Duties
- Coordinate and complete tasks needed to maintain and repair the physical building, outside grounds, and utility systems of the three Library Branches.
- Perform small repair jobs – plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, and carpentry.
- Perform routine tasks like changing light bulbs, checking emergency lights, etc.
- Assemble, troubleshoot and perform minor repairs of library furniture and equipment.
- Perform custodial duties at the Mt. Tabor Branch, up to 2 hours per week.
- Completes full cycle tasks for painting, including purchasing paint and preparing surfaces.
- Keeps Head of Facilities updated on tasks and projects.
- Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies.
- Coordinate custodial staff schedules.
- Respond to emergency calls.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Hang signs, pictures and equipment.
- Work with outside contractors and township public works staff.
- Assists with opening and closing the building as needed.
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance and inspections.
- Move books, furniture and equipment as needed.
- Program room and event set up.
- Clean in absence of custodial staff.
- Cover for the Driver/Courier as needed.
- Troubleshoot HVAC system.
- Related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of tools, materials, and methods used in the repair and maintenance of buildings.
- Ability to communicate assignments and instructions to staff, and supervise work completed.
- Able to report to work as scheduled, establish and maintain effective working relationships with Library employees and Patrons.
Requirements
- Three years of experience involving the maintenance and repair of buildings.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach, grab, climb, push, and pull. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and the ability to push/pull carts and bins up to 100 pounds.
- A valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive between Library Branches.
- New Jersey residency requirement: “New Jersey First Act”, N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70).
