Full-Time Librarian 1 - Youth Services/Children’s Department

The Middletown Township Public Library is seeking a customer service oriented, enthusiastic, leader to join our dedicated staff in the Children’s Department. 

Education: 

A Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State University. 

License: 

Appointees must hold or possess a valid certification as a Professional Librarian issued by Thomas Edison State University. 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Answering children’s reference & readers advisory questions
  • Collection development for ordering new books and weeding outdated books
  • Outreach to community organizations, school groups and general public
  • Assisting with and planning children’s library programs and events
  • Engage in professional development training, conferences and webinars
  • Cross training as needed
  • Must be a team player
  • Other duties as required

COMPENSATION: 

CWA 1032 Contractual rate: $63,053.37/yearly

Schedule:

35-hour work week including 1 weeknight evening shift (1:00-9:00 pm) 

Off 1 day per month during the week to cover 1 Saturday per month (9:00-5:00 pm) shift
